A ministry built on agape first principles
Bible Explorers is a denomination-less ministry founded on spreading the concept of agape into the world by preserving the four laws of Jesus Christ, and building an agape first community.
What is agape?
Agape is the Greek word for love that Jesus uses throughout the bible when describing how we should love. One place where the bible gives a comprehensive definition is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NJKV
Agape God
Matthew 22:37-38
Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.
Agape Others
Matthew 22:39
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Agape Like Jesus
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Spread The Gospel
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
We believe that the traditional way of reading the bible has been bogged down by cultural additions and incorrect context that have muddied basic Bible understanding. To put it simply, many people and denominations have added extrabiblical lenses to the way they interpret scripture instead of letting scripture speak for itself in its proper literary and historic framework.
This is why we propose to look at the bible at its most basic level using simple literary interpretation methodology to understand it. This means we take the story of the bible in its entirety and let that inform the read of a specific passage coupled with authorial intent.
To get technical for a quick moment we would first look at the story as a whole, see what the protagonist of the story is conveying then apply the lens of the author to the story to derive the meaning of the passage.
So, in the case of the bible we believe that it is one continuing story that is leading to Jesus both in his first and second comings, respectively. So, the protagonist of the story is not humanity but God (be it in the form of the Father or in the form of Jesus) and the authorial intent lies on both the human vessel doing the writing and the Divine Author in the Holy Spirit.
